The best part of the book so far...
I know each of you are in different places in the book you are reading. Think back on what you have read so far. In your opinion, what is the best part of the book? Write at least three sentences describing what is the best part and what makes it so good. This will be due on Friday. If you do not write three sentences, I will not accept it and you will have to do it again!!

My favorite part of Crispin so far is when 'Bear' names himself Crispins lord. Its such a suprising moment that shocked me. As soon as i read that part I knew Bear was crazy!!!! I love suspenseful books or books with one of those shocking moments so I really like Crispin. I also liked the part when Crispin learns how to play music on the recorder and that Bear points out that Crispin is not nothing. I thought Bear was one hundred percent crazy, but now I think Bear is just part crazy.
ReplyDeleteSamantha,
DeleteThis is a thoughtful response! Thank you for taking the time to it respond in depth. How far are you in the book?
I like the part in the book where he sees his priest dead on the floor. He has his throat slit.IT is nasty but a good part in the book.It is intreging!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book is when she makes a fool of herself. When she goes in the mud and makes the herself all dirty and them pretends to be a peasant girl and says makes herself look all bad in order to make the solder go away. I also like the part when the solder comes to dinner and she makes herself look really ugly and rude. These are my favorite parts of the book.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
I am finished with the book. :)
The best part of Crispin is when I read that Bear may have a soft side. He says he will try to help Crispin in escaping from his old master. But Bear has a secret......he can read what the writing says on Crispin cross. I am going to make a small prediction......Bear might be a family member of Crispin or he may know something about Crispins family past.
ReplyDeleteAmber, I loved seeing this side of Bear. I was so relieved he wasn't as bad as he seemed in the beginning. Crispin needed a friend, not another master!
DeleteMy favorite part so far is when Bear shows crispin how to juggle. He sort of pushed him into learning.Which shows that with a little push, you can learn many things.
ReplyDeleteThe best part in crispin so far is that now he has run away and he got a new master. I hope that this master is kinder than the one he had before, the one that wanted to kill him. Also i hope that this master will give crispin food everyday so that he doesnt starve
ReplyDeleteOne surprising event that was also pretty good because it was like, intense, was when crispin was when was driven into a trap by cerdic. But really, he only could've been led into a trap if Aycliffe knew that he was going to flee. which im just a little confused about. Another event that was pretty good was the detail the author put into the scene where crispin found out abut the pope. He put great detail into it and it was like 100% gore.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite port of crispin so far is when he got declared a wolfs head and the guard people lead him into a trap.I kind of guessed something bad was going to happen like how the father died, but i never would have guessed that they trapped him.It also suprised me when the dead man was hanging with a note tied to him. They didnt really explain that well for me, like what was he hanging from?
ReplyDeleteMy facorite part of the book so far is when Crispin perparing to go to the church. I like that part because it makes me think that not everyone dislikes him. It also makes me think that he won't loose faith in himself
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part in the story Crispin was when Crispin is declared a "wolf's head".Because when this happens Crispin is faced with many surpises. For example he finds out that his true name is Crispin and not "Asta's Son".He also realizes that he has been set up the night which he runs away, and that the town's priest has been murdered.
ReplyDeleteHonestly , I don't have a favorite part in the book. It's not that i don't like it , but i don't think it is the kind of book i would read. If i did however like this book , i would say my favorite part is at the beginning when the priest is his only friend. I think that is very heart warming & sweet . I am pretty sure the priest sees the good in the people and not just how much money they have or where they stand.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is when crispin and bear are in the town dancing and playing notes. Im very suprised that bear said that crispin was his son. Also, that bear takes really good care of crispin. I think its really nice because bear is crispins lord, and the lord sounds like there usally mean.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book was when Crispin and Bear go out for food. I like this part because it is weird how bear eats. I also like it because Crispin finnally got to eat good food.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part in the book crispin is when he escapes from Accliff like 3 times. i dont think that I could ever escape Sll that many times, Ha Ha. anyway I think that is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteWell my kind of favorite part is when Crispin is going to his mother's funeral. I know its sad, and all but it created suspense. No-one said anything, nothing happened, and i wanted to know why.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Crispin is when heas declared a wolfs head. Hes had such a tuff life already and know he has to run away because hes been accused of a crime he didnt commit. It was shocking and scary at the same time ,I didnt know what was going to happen. I am on page 190
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Crispin is when Crispin is trying to run away from everyone when its dark and he runs into the river. It's exciting because he needs to swim across but he doesnt know how deep it is and as I read this I imagined the whole thing in my head.I also thought when he went a different direction he say a dead body on the ground with a slit in their throat and he was afraid it was Father Quinel.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Crispin was when him and Bear were at Great Wexly because Crispin finds out what this mother's cross said. I liked this part because he no longer feels like a nobody and has great importance in his life if someone were to ever find out. Crispin also felt sad because his mother never talked about his father and who he was. I was shoked when I read that Crispin's father sent them to another town and made them live the way they did.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part in my book Crispin is actually when Bear starts to believe in Crispin and teaches him how to play music. I really start to see Bear's attitude—easily annoyed and aggressive on the outside, yet soft and friendly on the inside–totally suits his name! I think Crispin feels safer and happier around Bear. Happy people make me happy! I play music too, so I can relate to how wonderful and amazing it was (and still is) back then. I think Crispin has learned a significant skill by playing the recorder. Anyway, I really like this part because it is about two people bonding and becoming friends.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part in Crispin is wen he says he only trusted his mother and now shes qone.Thats my favorite part because its really weird but nice how he only trusted his mother like if shes qone now why dont he trust the priest? But then its also surprinq how now he thinks he didnt really know his own mother.
ReplyDeleteSo far i am on page 53, and there was a lot of suprising moments while i was reading. One of my favorite part of the story was when the priest and crispin were having a conversation on pages 29 through 31. The reason that this conversation was interesting to me was because crispin didn't know anything about his dad or much likely he didn't know he had a dad! Somehow their conversation was about crispins dad and mom. My favorite moment of a story is when it' crazy or about drama, and this part is about drama .
ReplyDeleteThe best part in the book for me is, when a boy about the same age Crispin leads him away from the direction from the priest told him to go. Then the boy led crispin in to a trap. He was surrounded by soldiers. But by chance Crispin was able to excape and ran a way. While he was running he found his friend's (the priest) dead body. He had a slit throat, Crispin got up and ran away from his pursuers. It is the most eventful part of the book I have read so far.
ReplyDeleteIt is unimaginable to me that someone would kill the priest. I don't think he would hurt a fly, so it must have been because he was helping Crispin.
Deletei am not very far in the book but the best part of the book so far is when he sneaks into the church. it is very suspenseful. and i like it because it shows people do still have trust in him even after being accused.
ReplyDeleteI am at the end of the book and the best part is when Bear and the steward fight. It is good because it is exciting. The steward ends up dying and Crispin leaves with Bear.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of this book is when he gets a new master. It has alot of suspense. It was the best part becaues after he escape then gets a new master it was very surpising.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the book so far is when crispin is with Bear and they have spotted crispin's old master. This is very suspencfull because Crispins old master might find him and Bear might to fight to keep his only sevant.I think that Crispin would try to get as far away from there as posible.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of the book so far is when he goes into the church. i like this part because it is very risky of him so it makes it suspensful and it makes you want to keep on reading. also it is a good part of the story when he finds the priest dead because i wanted to find out what he was going to tell Crispin about his mother and father.
ReplyDeleteI think the best part of the book was in the beginig. It was when hes getting chased by the guy after he wakes up from hitting his head.I liked it because it was very suspensful beacause I didnt know if he was going to get caught and if he did what woild of happened to him.
ReplyDeletei think that the best part of the book so far is the part when he wakes up from fainting.and get chaced
ReplyDeleteOctavio,
DeleteI am glad you posted a reply, but the directions specifically required at least three sentences. Once you rewrite this, I will give you credit for the assignment.
My favorit part whas in the bigining of the book. When Crispin makes a run for it in the forest. Then a man comes to the forest to get Crispin but then he hits his head and gets noked out.
ReplyDeleteI think that the best part is when the guy takes out his sword. And he chases crispin and he makes him trip and faint. Then the guy thats chasing crispin didnt see when he fell and rolled down the hole so he was looking for him for a long time and didnt find him.
ReplyDeleteI think there are many good parts in the book Crispin. My favorite part is when Crispin goes to the church to talk to Father Quinel. Father Quinel tells Crispin that he knows more about Crispin's mother and father.I like that part because it is very suspenceful.
ReplyDeleteThe part that I liked best is that when he goes to that lonely place and see's the man named "bear". It also tricked me because I thought that he was a good man ,but he was kind of mean. Then he started to get to know him ,but at first I thought that he was a lonely guy too . But all he wanted was to get him as his serf.
ReplyDeleteWell there have been a lot of good parts,it's a really good book. That said i believe the best part is the end.Because of the intense amount of action that the end brings.I wanted to know what happened to Bear and Crispin once they left 'Great Wexly".So I went to the library and got the second and am looking forward to reading the second.
ReplyDeleteBo,
DeleteI am so glad you enjoyed the book! Please let me know if the next one is as good. I haven't read it yet.
I think the best part of the book is when Crispin goes to find Bear who got kidnapped by John Ecliffe. Crispin blackmails him saying he is going to tell everybody that he is Lord Furnival's son if John doesn't give Bear back.So John leads him to Bear and then John leads them to the exit. There though John orders his men to attack them but then Bear grabs John throws him at the soldiers and a sword punctures him leaving him lifeless in a pool of blood.
ReplyDeleteim on page 201 and i think the best part of the book is when the 'widow' tells Crispin to bake the pies. So Crispin bakes the pies but he dropped one ,and so to get rid of the evidence he ate it. When the 'Widow' came back she knew that he ate one. So i thought that was the best part because it was funny.
ReplyDeleteI think that the best part of the book was when Crispin found Bear. The reason why was because he was singing.
ReplyDeleteAnastasia,
DeleteThe directions required at least three sentences and you have two. I am glad you took the time to respond, but you need to put more effort into it! Try again because you did not receive credit for this assignment!
I think that the best part of the story so far is when Crispin finds Bear. The reason for that is because Crispin was woundering what it was because the town was supposed to be deserted. Also when Bear was singing it sounded like it was a chant, which is weird because he was from a church. Maybe the chant was a church song? I dont know!!!!! hehe Bye-Byb 8)
DeleteI think that the best part in the book is when Bear told Crispin to stay in the room and he leaves the room.He goes to a church and sees Aclyffe and he yells out wolf head and he starts running.I also like it when crispin tells Aclyffe that he is Lord Furnivals son.
ReplyDeletei Think that my favorite part in the book is Catherine being so strong. She Knows what she wants, and she knows what she doesn't. The guys that her father wants her to marry are not the guys that she wants to marry ! I think that catherine is very strong, and it's safe to say that Catherine is clever and a little bit sneaky! I honestly think that everything about the book is inertesting ! From disobeying her father then to chasing all the guys that her father bring to her away! Plus , Poor thing Catherine is only 14 !
ReplyDeleteTatianna,
DeleteWhat a great response! After seeing how Ivetta, the girl in the movie, was forced to marry someone too old and too mean for her, do you feel a little sorry for girls in medieval Europe? They didn't have many opportunities, did they?
I think the best part is when she dresses like a guy.She dresses like a guy so she can sneek out of the house with the Jews. When shes out with the Jews she gets caught by someone and they took her home.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book was when he finds the priest dead on the floor. This is my favorite part because it creates suspense like, "Who killed him?" and many other suspenseful questions. Another part i liked was when the priest was telling Crispin a lot about his mother and father. I liked that part because we were getting to know them more and visualize how they've could have been.
ReplyDeleteCheyanneG.6 I think the best part is when he is chasing Crispin and he makes him trip and faint.
ReplyDeleteCheyanne,
DeleteThank you for taking the time to post a response. The directions say to write at least three sentences and you wrote one. When you write at least three sentences, I will give you credit for the assignment.
my favorite part of the book is when the horse riders went to crispins house. and they teared it down. crispin was very sad and shocked when it happened. it sort of broke my heart. because that was the only place he really felt safe..
ReplyDeleteper 1 my favorite part in the book so far was when he fins the priests dead. i like that part because it adds more to the story.it adds suspense scariness and that means that the person who killed the priest could have killed crispins mom.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Crispin so far is, when Crispin is in on the to the next towns, the ones that the father wanted him to go to, and he first desides he's not worth enough to live then he desides that he wants to continue with his journy. It's a good example of internal conflict. It makes Crispin getting a new master really disappionting.
ReplyDeleteI think the best part was when crispin found Bear beause he made a difference in his life.At first i felt bad for crispin because he had a new lord and to crispin Bear seemed to be an evil man. Then later in the story crispin sees that if he stays with Bear,Bear will protect him from crispins old lords.
ReplyDeleteIn Crispin, the best part of the book for me so far is when Bear makes Crispin his servant. This part of the book is suspenseful because Bear seemed nice at first, but then acts like a crazed killer. Plus, he forced Crispin to become his servant. Later, Bear teaches Crispin how to play the recorder. It is then revealed that Crispin will help Bear with his performances by playing it. Seeing that Crispin and Bear earn a few pennies together that'll help with their future travels is a bit heart-warming.
ReplyDeleteJulian,
DeleteThis is a really thoughful response! After reading this part in the book, it made me realize how often we judge people incorrectly, without realizing what else is going on in their lives. I really ended up liking Bear!
My favorite part was when Crispin was thought his talents by Bear.My favorite talent is his self-defense.Plus I like the fact that Bear is going easy on him.
ReplyDeleteI think the best part in the book Crispin so far would be when bear called Crispin his son. This supprised me and made me think that bear had a secret that he wasn't telling Crispin, or if he just said that to get to play in the town. Anyways I am excited to see what will happen next and to see if bear is hidding something!
ReplyDeleteI think Crispin was surprised, too!

ReplyDeleteCheyanneG.6 I think the best part of the book is when the guy is chasing Crispin and he faints and when he finds the guy with his neck split and he's declared a wolf head
ReplyDeleteI think the best part was when he was running away from john aycliffe. I thought it was very action packed. That is why I thought that part was good.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part is when crispin is called wolfhead. hes considered a wolfhead because hes being acused of a crime he didnt commit. his life was already miserable and being called a wolfhead made it even worse
ReplyDeleteThe best part is when crispin goes to find the beat who got kidnapped by John ecliffe .Crispin blackmails him saying that he's going to tell everybody that is lord furnivals son if John doesn't give back bear.john orders his men to attack them but the bear stops them
ReplyDeleteI think the best part of the book is wen he says there's hope of heaven. And wen he falls and he might of faint .thats what I think te best part of the book is .
ReplyDeleteWhat i found to be the best part is when.Crispin finds his priest dead.I could picture that in my head, when i was reading that. When i pictured that i thought of it as disgusting. That is what i thought was the best part.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of the book was when crispinwas going to know what he is fathers name was.also to know what his father did that not so many people liked him.this was exciting for me and alot for crispin.but it turns out that the father didnt come and tell crispin and left him more curious.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book is when Crispin is walking through the town. Since he doesn't see anyone it definitely is suspenseful because you don't know what is going to happen next. I really like when authors do that.

ReplyDeleteI think the best part of the book was when he fainted. That part was very suspensful. Then when he believes he has talent was very much of a happy moment.
ReplyDeleteI think that the best part so far is when Catherine sneeks out to the village and eventually starts a mud fight. She gets all dirty but she doesn't mind! Then it gets even better when her new suitor comes along looking for Catherine, not knowing that he was talking to her!! Of course she pretends to be someone else and scares him off!
ReplyDeletethe best part is when cripisn is in the city. why is he is expiring new way of living not just in his small village. also how his reaction was.
ReplyDeletei think that the best part of the book catherine is that catherine is a very intresting girl. also how she comes up with some really brilliant ideas to get rid of things that she dosent want to happen. an she wont care how bad he would look at the end bacause itsall worth it if it she actually gets rid of what she's been trying to get rid of.
ReplyDeleteThe best part in the book Crispin is when he runs away from his village and tries not to let Aycliffe to find him. The part that makes it so good is when they can't find him and mostly everyone knows Aycliffe is looking for him. Also when he plays the insterment with Bear while he was dancing.
ReplyDeleteYasmin F 1 the best part in the book is when crispin doesnt think he is useless anymore . & the bear made him belive in himself . And he also might know hes fathers name.
ReplyDeletei think my favorite part of the book so far will have to be when cathrine is saying that she was being forced to wright a journal by her father.jit just fells like she should do something about it but becaus it is back in medieval times when women didnt have as many rights. i havent read that much in the book so i havent gotten far enough to see what she does about it ( if she does anything about it.).

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the book so far is when Crispin is visiting Father Quinel. I like this part of the book because Father Quinel tells Crispin that he will tell Crispin all about his father the next time they see eachoter. When Crispin goes to Father Quinels home the next day he is not there, but later finds him dead in the woods. I like this part because it leaves you wondering what the story is behind his father and when he will find out.
